Armor

Inspired by Colossians 3:12 (CSB)
“Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”

“Put on your armor,” He whispers.
Like clothing,
the eternal love of the Lamb.

I hear it rustling about:
idolatry
malice
anger
wrath

“Put me on.”

Put you on.

“You are mine.”

I am yours.

Hug me like a daughter,
love me like a friend.

Dress the toddler in compassion;
Let her wail in your praise.

Clothe her in kindness,
let it seep through this nursery;

age her with gentleness —
soft food turning into solid.

Let the patience consume.
Lord dress her in Your love,
and may the salt of Christ
prevail.

A reflection on Colossians 3:12, using nursery imagery to explore spiritual growth into Christ’s likeness and the process of being clothed in His character.
